About Tip Calculator

Tipping etiquette by country
- United States — 15–20% is standard for sit-down restaurants; 18–20% for good service. Some venues add an automatic service charge.
- United Kingdom — 10–15% is common in restaurants. Many include a discretionary service charge; you can deduct it if service was poor.
- Europe — tipping customs vary widely. 5–10% is appreciated in France and Germany; many other countries tip by rounding up the bill.
- Australia / New Zealand — tipping is not obligatory but 10% is appreciated for excellent service.
- Japan / South Korea — tipping is generally not customary and can be considered rude in some contexts.
How to split a bill fairly
Set the number of people to the size of your group. The calculator divides the total (including tip) equally. For unequal splits — e.g. someone ordered an extra course — calculate the full shared tip using this tool, then split the base bill manually.
